Justin's interests include philosophy, linguistics and computer science. During his graduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin, he developed algorithms to identify the temporal order of events in written texts – what happens first, what happens second and so on.
While his natural language processing skills are instrumental to the data mining aspects of the biotx.ai platform, Justin has also become fluent in genomics in record time and has implemented or improved several core algorithms. He is first author of our paper on an interaction-based feature selection algorithm for the prediction of Parkinson's disease (doi: 10.3389/fgene.2021.744557).
Outside of science, Justin's passions include music. He is a multi-instrumentalist and enjoys music theory and composition in particular.
